New York City Marathon has come a long way since it first started in 1970, when 127 runners paid an entry fee of $ 1 to run around Central Park three times. Femogfyrre år siden grundlægelsen has become the world’s most popular marathon and draws up to 50,000 participants. If you look close to the lake of runners crossing the five districts to this year’s marathon on November 1st, you can even see a celebrity too.

Stjerner elsker at udfordre sig til denne 26,2 mile feat, for the most part because they treat marathon as an opportunity to raise money and awareness for one reason close to their hearts. Tidligere, Diddy logget miles for at mønstre penge til offentlige byskoler løb Ryan Reynolds til Parkinsons sygdom forskning, og Edward Norton pounded fortovet for at hjælpe med at redde ørkenen. This year there will be another set of stars that spans their sneakers to make a difference, including Alicia Keys. Den New York-indfødte og Grammy-prisvindende sanger vil køre hendes første maraton for at øge bevidstheden om Keep A Child Alive, som giver sundhedspleje og bevidsthed til hjemmebidragede samfund i Afrika og Indien.

Og hun er ikke den eneste. Rul ned for at se hvem der presser deres kroppe til grænserne i 2015s løb – find out why they are driving.
