Sarah Jessica Parker has never been shy of the difficulties she faced to breed poor with her seven sisters and brothers in Cincinnati, nor how that experience and family ties helped to shape the woman she has become.
“We might not have come from money, but she had some beautiful grand ideas about how presentable we should be. She had to be very industrious and very sparse to finally make some of our clothes.”
Parker foretager this tradition to this day with its own children, albeit for nostalgic and conservatory reasons rather than out of necessity. I am now full of luxurious children’s clothes and one-of-a-kind mode, it was this wistfulness for an easier time, inspired Parker when she set up her first childrens collection in collaboration with GapKids for sale on 1. marts.

But when we came to have our own children, we were very excited to have all our clothes from childhood. There are 12 grandchildren, so we always tie clothes. “
For Parker, hvis lange tilknytning til modeindustrien er blevet udvidet i de seneste år med sin SJP samling, Gap’s work represented something of a return since she appeared in the retailer’s advertisement more than a decade ago-Sex and the City. From this month, its designs with Parker, which also includes two women’s dresses, will also be sold for a limited time online and in stores.

The first pieces are all about cartoon comics, which appear as illustrations on Ts or shaped like critter-friendly rucksacks and handbags. They are conveniently timed for Easter, but in reality, refer to the prolonged superstition that the rabbits bring happiness. On the first of every month, “rabbit, rabbit” is the first word out of Parker’s mouth (and also written in the image of the image she puts on social media that day).
“We would also have many things to be sexless because certain pieces in our house moved back and forth between the boys and the girls.”

Parker himself never had any choice in the case. She owned no pants before she was 11, and there were a pair of Rachel’s jeans that had been extended for years by using strips of flowered tapestry tape. Only after she moved to New York City to begin her Broadway career as a teenager, Parker began to form her own sense of style, and even then she found himself attracted by vintage stores like Alice Underground and Screaming Mimis. When she had her own children, it turned out impossible to break the habit of reusing older clothes.
“I was absolutely sure to dress them for as long as I could,” she says. I think my mother was right, and amazing, but I just do not have the same will.

“The rule of our house is that from Sunday night to Thursday evening, so my personal objections are not as long as the kids are wearing is appropriate for the weather and whatever the school requires,” continues Parker.
Parker is happy to return to Gap after so many years to make a point that people as good clothes should not be treated as disposable. Efter sin sidste kampagne til butikken sluttede i 2005, just like Parker became 40, several newspapers reported that she had been fired and replaced by a younger model – something that both Parker and Gap have long refused.
“And I feel like I never got to correct the post, do you know that? So it’s nice to be back with them and to be desired. I want to, in a subtle, quiet way, it’s a good little period in the end of that sentence, do you know? “
