One of his biggest challenges: Nail their qualities down to each hairline and face. For that, Martin’s team has been working for several months to perfect each angle – it’s as if there was hair and makeup on a movie, it was the team that did. That’s why the department was responsible for it on this movie, not called Hair and Makeup, but rather Hair and Fur Grooming Team. “It’s the people who use our computer software and their artistry to get the characters ready for the screen,” said Martino. “They are those who focus on making Sally’s curls, and the little curling block in the front of the hair looks very good. They are the ones that created Lucy’s shining beautiful black hair.”
If you look close to Lucy, you want to notice that her hair has shine to it – an idea originally designed by Schulz. “I look the way that Charles Schulz wanted ink in her hair and always left a little white along the edge of the glow,” said Martino. “For filmen sørgede vi for, at Lucy had the same quality. We used her hair specifically for the shine.”
